Roof flashing and leadwork repairs
Repair and replacement of failed lead at chimneys, walls, valleys, rooflights and roof junctions.
Weatherproof the vulnerable junctions.
Leadwork directs water away from changes in roof level, adjoining walls and penetrations. Splits, movement, poor laps and failed fixings can let water behind otherwise sound tiles or slates.

Signs of failing leadwork
Look for lifted edges, splits, staining below a junction and previous sealant repairs. Lead moves as temperatures change, so sections must be correctly sized, lapped and fixed.
Repairing the surrounding roof
Accessing lead details may require nearby tiles or slates to be lifted. We check the adjoining battens, underlay and mortar so the completed junction works as one weathering system.
Why sealant is rarely a complete answer
Surface sealants can sometimes help temporarily, but they do not correct badly formed, undersized or poorly lapped lead. A lasting repair starts with the cause of the movement or water path.
Common questions.
Can split lead flashing be repaired?+
The right method depends on the location and extent of the split. Small defined defects may be repaired; extensive failure can require replacement sections.
How do you know the lead is causing the leak?+
We check the visible lead, adjoining coverings and internal water position. Some details can only be confirmed when nearby materials are carefully lifted.
Do you install new lead valleys?+
Yes. JDL Roofing installs and repairs lead valleys and other roof junctions as part of repair and re-roofing work.
